Signs of Drug Abuse

Oxycodone is the generic name for the narcotic painkillers in the opiate family of drugs. There are several brand names that are marketed by the pharmaceutical industry but for all intents and purposes, they all act similarly. With the help of this site hopefully, we can clear up some the misinformation and get the proper information to you in order to help you understand how to best solve your addiction and get your life going in the right direction. There are several classes of drugs that range in strength and the initial use and prescription from a doctor could have been made with the best of intentions. The issue is that these drugs are so addictive that the drugs themselves can quickly grab you and get you hooked.

Let’s start off by reviewing the types of drugs and their name brands under which they are marketed.  This may not be a complete list so if you have any that you would like to add feel free to mention them in the forums.

Here is a list off the top of my head that we are dealing with and each one is extraordinarily addictive:

Oxycontin – Oxys drug, Oxycontin, Oxycontin,

Endocet, Percocet, Percodan, and Roxicet

At the beginning of use, people might seem tired or unable to focus on tasks. If you ever read a label you’d see it says to stay away from operating equipment, driving or other activities that require dexterity. A person who is abusing will have the following signs of abuse: They will have constricted pupils and seem to be dreary or drowsy and tired.  People who are seeking out the high from oxys drugs will tend to “nod out” and their heads will physically fall forward or backward. Many people become itchy. If they have snorted the drug then they will tend to itch their nose quite a bit. Nausea tends to occur quite often as these opiate drugs are very powerful and your stomach isn’t used to the feeling.

In the physical world, there will be signs of oxycodone abuse by simply looking around their bedroom or bathroom.  If there are glass pipes, or cut up straws or rolled up dollars you can be sure the person was smoking or snorting the drugs. If you find needles or syringes then you can feel almost certain you are dealing with a person that’s in need of treatment for opiate addiction.

One of the most surefire ways to tell if someone you love is in dealing with oxycontin addiction (Oxycontin is the correct spelling) is that they will begin to withdraw from society. Hang around their friends less. Change their hobbies, change their patterns…… in general, just change their way of life. One of the more perverse things about prescription drug addiction is the amount of time and effort and lies that go into obtaining the drugs. If they would just spend that amount of time working or doing other productive things they would be so much happier.

If you get nothing more from your visit here please know that there are people who understand the pain your in and that want to help you overcome your drug addiction or your prescription drug addiction.

The first step in getting help is admitting there is a problem. Well because you’re here you’ve already made it that far!  I encourage you to read through the whole site or call us to get more recovery information.
